REDD+ Policy Design: Governing trade-offs between biological conservation and economic development

Asim Zia, Assistant Professor, Community Development and Applied Economics, UVM

Come hear presentations on two instances of carbon offset use in policy. First, Michelle Passero will describe California’s landmark climate legislation, AB32 and its cap-and-trade mechanism, and the role played by offsets. Second, Asim Zia will discuss international REDD+ projects and offer a critical look at trade-offs between environmental and social goals.
