THE GREEN MOUNTAIN CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL RETURNS FOR AN EIGHTH SEASON TO THE UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT
The Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival will return to the University of Vermont campus for its eighth season from June 24-July 21, 2012. This festival combines an intensive program of solo and chamber music study for college, graduate, and high school age musicians with a chamber music series. Over 140 students from 48 states and 12 countries converge on the campus of the University of Vermont for one month preparing to be professional violinists, cellists and pianists, as well as advocates for classical chamber music.
Thirty faculty musicians work with Artistic Director Kevin Lawrence preparing these young musicians for professional careers in the world of music. Students participate in free community performances throughout Chittenden and Addison Counties as part of the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival’s outreach program.
In addition, performances by advanced string students will be presented every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. beginning June 26th in the University of Vermont Recital Hall. The public is invited to attend these free public performances.
Along with its program of study for young musicians, the festival supports a chamber music series, which has already taken its place among the most significant musical events in the region.
