Emma Cook on a covered bridge

Burlington City Arts’ Summer Concert Series, presented by VSECU, features Emma Cook & Questionable Company on July 22.

A small band with a curiously large sound, Emma Cook & Questionable Company are known for powerful vocals, raw energy, and tight grooves. With folk funk origins, fans appreciate the country, soul, and jazz influence in Cook’s songwriting, amplified by her backing band Questionable Company. Cook has been hailed as “a formidable songwriter and instrumentalist” by Seven Days. And the band “leverages Emma’s incomparably smooth vocals to create something that sounds close to magic,” according to Deli Magazine. Questionable Company, led by drummer Andy Feltus, hosts an evolving array of talented musicians with “a sound that’s soulful and distinct.” Their grooves are fresh yet familiar, and leave audiences feeling lightened.

Burlington City Arts’ is bringing music back to Church Street – safely – with our annual Summer Concert Series. All are welcome to enjoy these free concerts by Vermont musicians on lower Church Street, near City Hall. The series takes place on Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:30 p.m. For many of the musicians featured in this summer’s series, these concerts will mark their first gig in many months, so go cheer them on!
