Festival of Light & Dark

The annual Festival of Light & Dark honors and celebrates how different religious, philosophical, and cultural traditions orient around the changing of the seasons and the transition from fall into winter. Together explore how the themes of light and dark, and the intersections between the two, are observed by different members of our UVM community and then round out the evening with cookies and hot cider! It might be lighting candles for Hanukah, Kwanza, or Diwali, singing songs for Christmas or Solstice, or drawing close with family and/or friends to remind you of the relationships that keep you going through the cold, winter months.

The core of this celebration together is the opportunity to hear and/or share reflections, songs, dances, rituals or other creative offerings. If you are interested in being part of the Festival of Light and Dark by sharing your celebrations, reflections, or customs, please email [email protected]
