Meditation for People of Color with Mark Reck

Mindfulness? Isn’t that for white people? Actually, mindfulness was originally developed, practiced, and taught by people of color in the East – India, Nepal, Tibet, Burma, China, and many other eastern countries. In this weekly drop-in, honoring the roots of mindfulness and in community with other POC students, staff, and faculty, you will learn practices that can support your well-being, your academic performance, and the cultivation of deep wisdom and compassion. The class is led by Mark Reck, a CAPS Psychologist, and a UVM Mindfulness staff facilitator. Come once and check it out or make it a Thursday evening ritual. This weekly drop-in, held at the MCSC classroom, is FREE and open to all POC students, staff, and faculty.

LivingWell is home to the Education & Outreach staff from the Center for Health & Wellbeing (CHWB). They are dedicated to a holistic approach in supporting the needs of students in their pursuit of creating and maintaining healthy, well-balanced lifestyle.
