Modigliani String Quartet
The Paris-based Modigliani Quartet (Amaury Coeytaux, violin; Loic Rio, violin; Laurent Marfaing, viola; François Kieffer, cello) has been performing together for over fifteen years and, as such, has developed its own distinctive sound and rapport. They have released ten CD’s over the last thirteen years, covering a great portion of the repertoire, including string quartets by Haydn, Schumann, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Debussy, Saint-Saëns, Ravel, Mozart, Schubert, Dvořák and Bartók. In addition to an extensive touring schedule that takes them all around the world (including the new main hall in the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, where they were the first string quartet to perform), the Modigliani members are the Artistic Directors of the Rencontres Musicales d’Ėvian, a renowned European summer music festival. They will be performing Quartet in D minor, Op. 76, No. 2, “Quinten” by Haydn, Quartet in A minor, Op. 51, No. 2 by Brahms, and Capriccio for String Quartet in E minor, Op. 81, No.3 by Mendelssohn.
