“The Last Crop”

Join the Plant and Soil Science department for their screening of the new documentary “The Last Crop” on Monday November 6, at 5:30 pm in the Silver Maple Room in the Davis Center.
The Last Crop is an intimate exploration into the lives of small family farmers in California’s Central Valley. It is an exploration into who grows what we eat and what it takes to be a farmer.  Inextricably woven within these organic pioneers’ story is their ten-year pursuit to ensure their productive farm’s future. That narrative echoes across our nation, as our aging farming population confronts the fragile balance of farm succession, affordable farmland, and ultimately preserving their land for future farmers. The Last Crop captures the intractable nature of sustaining small family farms in the U.S. and the stake we all have in making certain these farms survive and thrive.
There will be refreshments available and a Q&A with UVM faculty members after the film
