As of August 2024, the UVM BORED calendar has been integrated with the University of Vermont’s event calendar (powered by Localist) to provide a more streamlined and comprehensive submission process!
An account is required in order to submit events to the BORED calendar. Current students, staff, and faculty can login using their UVM NetID and password. Those without a UVM NetID (including local venues, organizations, and businesses) can create an account directly through the platform with a personal email address. Alternatively, social logins are available through Google and Facebook. Pick your preference! With your account, you will be able to monitor the approval status of your events and submit edits and updates after submission!

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my event be added to the University event calendar as well?
The BORED calendar and University event calendar now share a submission platform, meaning that your event can easily be populated on both. No need to submit in two places anymore! However, only UVM-affiliated events (i.e. those sponsored by departments or clubs) will appear on the UVM calendar.
How is the BORED calendar different from the University event calendar?
The BORED calendar is curated by our team (i.e. current UVM students!) to highlight events that we think our fellow Catamounts will be excited about. Not all events are appropriate for the BORED calendar and we work hard to make sure that when you’re looking for something to do on a Friday night, you don’t have to look far or long!
Our calendar also includes off campus events that are not affiliated with UVM— think concerts at Higher Ground, art shows at the BCA, and open mic nights at the Vermont Comedy Club! We have an amazing network of local venues, businesses, and organizations that share their events with us. We also go out and find cool events in and around Burlington to add to the calendar, just for you. 😉
How important are Filters on the Submission page?
The more complete your event submission, including Filters, the better! We definitely recommend adding at least the Event Type filter to every submission. Students who use the BORED calendar use filters to search for events, and our website uses filters to organize and highlight content on our homepage. As a best practice, we recommend adding multiple filters!

Event Submission Guidelines
We’re excited to help share events that strengthen and inspire our community. To keep our calendar useful, accurate, and welcoming, we review all submissions before publishing.
Approval Criteria
Please review the guidelines below before submitting your event. In addition to adhering to the Localist Guidelines & Best Practices provided on the Event Submission Form, all events on the BORED calendar are subject to the following criteria:
Relevance
The primary audience for the BORED calendar is University of Vermont students. Events should be connected to the greater Burlington community, region, or areas of interest. We welcome arts, culture, education, recreation, business, and other community-oriented events. Additionally, events must be geographically relevant (typically within a ~2 hour drive from Burlington).
Open to All UVM Students
Events must be open to all UVM students, whether free or ticketed. In most cases, private parties, invite-only gatherings, or closed-membership meetings are not eligible. Weekly club meetings are allowable, so long as they are open to new members.
Complete and Accurate Information
All events must include the following:
- Event title
- Date and time
- Location Details
- Description
- Photo
- Registration or ticket link (if applicable)
- Organizer and Organizer contact information*
*Please note that the event Organizer must be a University affiliated department/unit, recognized student organization, or legally established organization (e.g. non-profit, commercial business, governmental entity). Events sponsored by private citizens are not permitted. If your group/organization is not currently in our system, an Event Organizer Request Form must be completed before your event can be reviewed.
Reasons Your Event May Be Declined
- It does not meet the criteria above
- It duplicates an existing listing
- Necessary information is missing or you are non-responsive to requests for clarification
- It is submitted too close to the event date
Additionally, please be aware of the following:
- Events being held on-campus without a confirmed space reservation will not be approved.
- Event postings and the underlying events must comply with all applicable laws and may not promote illegal activity, discrimination, discriminatory harassment, or threats of violence.
- UVM is unable to engage in political campaign activities in support of, or in opposition to, candidates. Therefore, these events will not be posted on the calendar in compliance with UVM’s Political Engagement, Advocacy, and Campaign Related Activities Policy.
- In compliance with the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act, the UVM BORED calendar will not include any event that promotes the use, distribution or possession of cannabis or any illicit substance. If alcohol will be available at any event, the event organizer certifies by submitting their event that licensed servers will be engaged and consumption by individuals under age 21 will not be permitted.
Edits and Removals
We reserve the right to edit event titles, descriptions, and photos for clarity and consistency. Events may be removed if they are canceled, information is determined to be inaccurate, or violate these guidelines.
