Embarrassing Story Contest Winner
Last Wednesday, we ran a contest through our weekly email asking for embarrassing/funny stories. We loved the responses we got from you guys, but our all-time favorite won two tickets to see Daniel Koren at the VT Comedy Club on Friday night.
Here was the story:
“I was at the South End Art Hop this year, rocking the T-shirt of my favorite band Phish. I stopped by Arts Riot for the Art Hop reception, where I recognized some local musicians setting up on the stage. I walked around the building to see what art there was and I started seeing more musicians I knew. There was a door by the stage to what I thought was more local art. I opened the door at the same time Page McConnell, member of the band Phish and my favorite keyboard player, walked through the other side. We both stopped, he moved to the side, an awkward pause as he saw my shirt. Both of us did a halfhearted nod and he made a barely audible “how are you” as I passed by him through the doorway. Feeling mix of horror, shock, and disbelief, I was then told that this was not another art space but actually a private loading space for the musicians. I then had to backtrack, passing Page again, realizing what I’d just done. He stood in the corner, I watched the stage, trying to salvage what was left of my composure. I tried covering my Phish shirt by zipping up my sweatshirt, my sweatshirt from the guitarist of Phish. Soon after I heard a voice behind me and turned to see Mike Gordon, bass player of- oh yes-the band Phish. Before I could say anything, I realized that facing him was my backpack with five different Phish patches on it. I stayed facing forward.”
Congratulations to Margaux Higgins!
