BIPOC Meditation & Yoga

Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30 PM @ Mosaic Center for Students of Color

(located in the Mosaic Center Classroom – Living & Learning E-166)

Join Emily Kline and Vanessa Santos Eugenio on Wednesday evenings for BIPOC Yoga & Meditation. This space is intended to be a safe and joyful container in which BIPOC students, staff, and faculty can move, breathe, and experience the powerful practices of yoga and meditation. The movement portion of the class will incorporate both standing and grounded asanas (poses) accessible to all bodies. We will focus on pairing movement and breath (vinyasa) to prepare the body to ease into meditation. Meditation will vary in style such as; body scans, mettā loving kindness, visualization, silent/quiet sitting or lying down. We would like to emphasize the importance of cultivating community among folks of color, especially within white-majority spaces. We encourage you to show up authentically — there’s no certain way we to be in this space. All experience levels, cultures, bodies, BIPOC identities, and abilities are welcome here.

The UVM mindfulness program affirms the inherent worth and dignity in all living beings. We welcome and celebrate people of every race, ethnicity, class, sexual orientation, age, gender identity, body size, ability, religion, and citizenship status. And we are actively working to investigate bias and challenge racism and all forms of oppression.
