Eclipse Seminar Series: Enabling Technologies for Deep Space University CubeSats

Enabling Technologies for Deep Space University CubeSats
12-12:45pm @ Davis Center Grand Maple Ballroom

CubeSats are single or multiples of 10cm cube satellites that are small enough for a university to economically build. Dr. Carl Brandon, Professor and Director of the CubeSat Lab at Vermont Tech, will describe the construction and operation of the first successful university satellite in the northeast. This CubeSat satellite was in a low-altitude orbit for just over two years, but emerging technologies will allow larger CubeSats capable of operating in deep space. This will enable them to carry on scientific exploration at much lower costs than conventional satellites and allow universities and their students to construct their own satellites and go beyond low Earth orbit.
