UVM Recital Hall- Yasmin Williams

Join UVM Recital Hall in welcoming Yasmin Williams for a performance on May 3rd from 7:30pm-9:30pm! Tickets are $6.50 for students.

A jaw-droppingly talented, self-taught, finger-style acoustic guitarist and composer, Yasmin Williams  incorporates body and hand percussion, tapping, and extended techniques on the instrument to create her beautiful and complex music. She is a true virtuoso in her mastery of the guitar and in the ambidextrous and pedidextrous techniques of her own invention, but her playing never sacrifices lyricism, melody, and rhythm for pure demonstration of skill. Her influences range from video games like Guitar Hero, to smooth jazz, to West African griots. Her latest album, Urban Driftwood, has received critical acclaim from numerous major publications including The New York TimesPitchfork (where she was listed as “25 New and Rising Artists Shaping the Future of Music in 2023”), Rolling StoneThe Washington PostNPR MusicThe FaderWall Street JournalAllMusicPaste Magazine, and No Depression.
