CatCard Magic Tricks
It’s in your pocket every day. You probably bring it everywhere. But where can it take you?
The Bored Team has put together a collection of all the cool things that we know your CatCard can do (besides the obvious stuff, like getting you into your dorm or doing your laundry). Check it out by scrolling down below, and let us know in the comments if you know about another CatCard “magic trick”!
Ride the Bus with Green Mountain Transit
Your CatCard gives you free rides throughout Burlington, Chittenden County, and the great beyond of Vermont. Not only can you ride from campus to Church Street or the University Mall, but you can take local buses for a day trip to Montpelier, Middlebury, or the ski mountains too! Find local schedules and more info here.
Cats at the Movies – FREE Movie Tickets
Stop by Student Life on Monday and Tuesday mornings to snag a FREE TICKET to see a movie at the Merrill’s Roxy Theater downtown! Sweet deal, huh? Get there early as they usually run out! Find out all the deets over here.
Student Discounts at the Roxy
If you haven’t snagged a Cats at the Movies Ticket or want to go see a film outside of the times of the week that they’re valid, you can still get a discount by flashing your CatCard at the ticket counter! Get a few dollars off and enjoy Burlington’s finest cinema any day or time of the week.
Get Athletic Tickets!
Your CatCard can get you into all university athletic events for free! Though they are all ticketed, you can pick up your free tickets at the box office (for hockey games, the Monday before the game). For extra popular events, get a ticket in advance, or try your luck at the door. Find out what’s going on at the UVM Athletics website.
Downtown Shopping Discounts
Lots of downtown stores offer discounts for UVM students if you show them your CatCard. Next time you’re making a purchase, ask the store associates at the register if they have a student discount (usually 10% or 15%). Every penny saved makes a difference on those college budgets!
Free Admission to the Fleming Museum
Did you know we had a museum on campus? The Fleming Museum is free to all students with presentation of your CatCard! Head over to check out the awesome permanent collection or visit the website to stop by while they are showing a special exhibition. Keep your eyes peeled for the exhibition opening events that happen early each semester too!
Racquetball, Tennis, Swimming, and More
Reserve racquetball, tennis, and squash courts for a pickup game or a dance rehearsal with your CatCard. Find out more about “Open Rec” and court reservation on Campus Recreation’s website here.
Discount at the Flynn Theater
See some of the best theater, music, dance, and more coming through Vermont at the Flynn Theater, right downtown. PLUS get a discount on your tickets by showing your CatCard at the box office when you purchase them. Find out more info here.
