BOREDie Pro Tips: Valentine’s Day Self Dates and Date Dates

It’s that time of year again! Either you absolutely know what day is coming because you have an S.O. that you will shower with love and affection. Or, you completely forget about the Hallmark holiday and are very confused when you start seeing those little heart shaped candies everywhere and couples are even lovey-er than usual.

I personally like to choose the latter and shower myself with presents and a full-on week of #treatyoself which I highly encourage whether or not you are in a relationship. 🙂

Camilla’s Ideal Valentines Day:

Self-date: Go get yourself something you have wanted for a while but haven’t had the guts to buy (that student budget tho…) have absolutely no buyers remorse after because you frickin’ deserve it! Also, go out and get yourself a nice dinner…The best love you can ever get is #self-love!!

Other date: Over our four years together, my roommate and I have made a tradition to spend every Valentine’s day that we are together, eating Veggie pizza at Junior’s.

Another great option for roomie dates is Pho-Hong, it’s a very intimate dine-in experience and has food that is phenomenal.

Pro-tip: Pho-Hong has usually has a long wait so either get there either really early, pretty late, or order take out…either way, still delicious.

If all else fails, PIZZAAA

Pho Hong — 325 N Winooski Ave, Burlington, VT 05401

Jimmy’s Ideal Valentines Day:

Self-date: Eating a few pints of Ben and Jerry’s while watching Parks and Rec. If this sounds pathetic, you’re right. It is.

Real Date: Pizza Verita for pizza or Asiana House for sushi. These are two of my favorite restaurants in Burly! The food is high quality and the ambiance is perfect for a casual and comfortable dinner. 10/10 would recommend!

Location and Hours:

Pizzeria Verita— 156 St Paul St, Burlington, VT 05401

Sunday – Thursday 5 – 10 PM

Friday – Saturday 5 – 11 PM

Jake’s Ideal Valentines Day:

Self Date: Get in bed with a big plate of blueberry pie and watch The Office.

Real Date: I break into Tiffany’s at midnight. Do I go for the vault? No, I go for the chandelier. It’s priceless. As I’m taking it down, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It’s her father’s business. She’s Tiffany. I say no. We hangout all night. In the morning, the cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico, but I go to Canada. I don’t trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later, I get a postcard. She’s married Jimmy and he’s the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting. I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris by the Trocadero. She’s been waiting for me all these years. She’s never taken another lover. I don’t care. I don’t show up. I go to Berlin. That’s where I stashed the chandelier. Or Farmhouse Tap & Grill I guess.

Farmhouse Tap & Grill — 160 Bank St, Burlington, VT 05401

Marty’s Ideal Valentines Day:

Self-date: Forcing our communal house cat Skeg, to snuggle with me as I house a gallon of almond milk and eat two everything bagels with cream cheese, avocado, and Valentina hot sauce. Little animals are always good for the lonely heart

Real Date: I would say Our House in Winooski for those not afflicted by dairy farts, a safer option for more sensitive stomachs, would be Istanbul Kebab House. Who doesn’t like hot sticks of meat?

Location and Hours:

Instanbul Kebab House — 175 Church St, Burlington, VT 05401

Friday – Saturday: 11 AM – 10 PM
