Hey Cats!
Our names are Jace and Annalisa and we are members of the UVM Program Board (UPB)! We have dedicated our summer months as this year’s Campus Programs interns to planning your long-awaited arrival to campus in August.
What is WOW: A warm welcome to campus during the first week of classes which includes 30+ fun events around campus!
When is it: August 25th through the following Monday, September 1st
Who is it for: ALL UVM students!!!
Does it cost money: Nope! Everything is free, including tickets to the Labor Day Comedy show.
We are extra excited about this year’s WOW as it will be packed with giveaways, games, and signature events!
We understand WOW can be a bit overwhelming, which is why we hand-picked some of our favorite events that you can’t miss. For the full list of events check out UVM BORED’s website with this link: uvmbored.com/wow.
So, without further ado, here is our guide to making the most of WOW and having the best first few weeks on campus!
Annalisa’s Pick: Coffee on the Common
Whether it be the adorable tumblers or the coffee that gets people buzzing, Coffee on the Commons is a fan favorite signature WOW event! Monday through Thursday during WOW, we give out FREE coffee on the lawn outside of the Davis Center from 10am to 1pm.
Not only will we have free coffee this year, but lemonade and iced tea for my fellow non-coffee drinkers out there! It’s a great pit stop between classes to fuel up and if you want more free swag, we give away WOW tumblers every hour, on the hour, 10am, 11am, and 12pm. Rumor has it that there might also be free bagels and donuts. Which days? You’ll have to stop by to find out…
Jace’s Pick: Build–a–bouquet
Swing by the Green Roof of the Davis Center after or in between classes and build-a-bouquet to brighten up your room! From 3pm-5pm Tuesday, August 26th pick out your favorite seasonal flowers from June Farm and curate your dream bouquet!
Annalisa’s Pick: Brennan’s After Dark
On the Saturday of WOW, come join UPB as we put on the first campus concert of the year! Located in Brennan’s Pub in the Davis Center from 9-11pm, dance the night away and vibe to student DJs Paul Rose and Aidan Burt! Bring your friends and make new ones there as you won’t want to miss this electric start to the semester!
Jace’s Pick: Drag Bingo
Looking for a way to start your first weekend back with a bang? Come join us for 4 fabulous rounds of bingo hosted by the iconic duo Emoji Nightmare and Katniss Everqueer as they come to light this bingo night on FIRE! Spice up your night by joining us on Friday, August 29th in Grand Maple Ballroom in the Davis Center at 7 PM, who knows, you might go home with a prize! And remember, it’s dinner and a show because they WILL be serving (dinner not actually included).
Jace & Annalisa’s Pick: Pub Quiz
Last but certainly not least is one of our most beloved weekly events, Pub Quiz. This iconic event happens EVERY Wednesday night during the school year starting at 8pm in Brennan’s Pub in the Davis Center. If you and your friends have an interesting team name, some competitive spirit, and a lot of brains, come test your skills and win some prizes!
We are so thrilled about welcoming so many people to UVM this year, and we can’t wait to see all your lovely faces at these events! If none of the activities we listed seem up your alley, there are so many other fun and exciting WOW options to choose from.
