Burly Summer Magic
If you think Burlington is beautiful when it looks like a winter wonderland, then imagine how beautiful it gets when the flowers bloom, everything is green, the waterfront is glistering and the sun is out. The personality of Burlington in the summer time is vibrant, fun, memorable. The Burly vibes over the summer are my favorite so I wanted to share a few things that you can do if you are visiting or staying for any period of time.
#1 Grab a Creemee
These delicious soft serve treats are located at the Waterfront on College Street. Can you guess the Burlington Bay’s best seller? *drumroll* Of course it’s the maple creemee! Creemees are a good way to enjoy what Burlington has to offer without making a huge dent in your wallet. Burlington Bay is so close that you can take a walk, drive, or run with your pup and they can get a treat to with a doggie safe creemee. While enjoying your delicious Vermont soft serve you can visit the ECHO Center, walk alongside the lake, and enjoy the view.
#2 Spend a day on the beach
A warm day under the sun with a good playlist, some snacks, and a reasonable amount of sunscreen of course can be a perfect summer day. There are two beaches in Burlington, all just a short drive. North Beach is located right off North Avenue, and is down the road from Burlington High School, it is open sunrise to sunset and is the only beach with active lifeguards. While at North Beach you can host a barbecue, let out your inner child on the playground, and enjoy treats from the snack shack. If North Beach isn’t sanding your cheeks, there’s also Blanchard Beach at Oakledge Park located on Flynn Avenue in South Burlington – this beach offers tennis courts, picnic areas, walking rails, and more. The beach equals summer vibes, so plan accordingly and enjoy building sand castles!
#3 Explore the Trails of Burlington – Biking and Hiking!
For my outdoorsy peeps, and the ones who want to explore nature more be sure to check out the many trails and bike paths that Burlington has. Don’t have a bike? No problem, with the Green Ride Bike Share you can rent bikes that will get you to your destination, or the path of your desire.
#4 Explore Church Street Marketplace
Grab some homies and take a walk through Church Street where you can literally find surprises everywhere, trust me; once I was walking through and saw a guy doing magic tricks with fire! There are also so many dogs walking about with their owners you can spend hours just petting those cute fury animals. If you are a foodie, Church Street is home to many delicious food stops. As you walk down church street you can take a detour down College Street to capture the most instagrammable spot of The 2019 BORED Awards!
#5 Enjoy Live Music
One of the main wonders of Burlington is all the live music, downtown and beyond. Some places you can find live music are The Radio Bean, Lamp Shop, Foam, Nectar’s, Club Metronome, Sidebar, ArtsRiot, Skinny P, The Flynn, Higher Ground all have live music basically every day. Then during the Summer there are so many live music festivals like Discover Jazz, Grand Point North, Live on the Lawn.
